Leadership Initiative Certificate Overview

Green Certificate – 1st Semester

Designed for the first semester Leadership Initiative participant, this Green Certificate provides an introduction to leadership and student development theory complemented by one event from each of the approved Leadership Initiative categories.


Requirements

  1. Join the Leadership Initiative on OrgSync
  2. Complete Leadership Initiative Pre-Program Assessment
  3. Green Workshop 1 - Introduction to the Leadership Initiative
  4. Green Workshop 2 - Consciousness of Self
  5. Green Workshop 3 - Congruence
  6. Attend ONE event from EACH category: Appreciating Diversity, Campus Life, Professional Development, Service, and Wellness
  7. Complete written reflections on OrgSync for each workshop attended
  8. Submit a Green Certificate Completion Application via Org Sync.

 

Gold Certificate – 2nd Semester (Prerequisite Green Certificate)

Gold CertificateDesigned for the second semester of Leadership Initiative participant, this Gold Certificate focuses on developing the reflective skills essential for continuous interior transformational change. It also maintains the foundational participation in the approved Leadership Initiative events.

 

Prerequisite

  1. Green Certificate

Requirements

  1. Gold Workshop 4 - Commitment
  2. Gold Workshop 5 - Collaboration and Common Purpose
  3. Gold Workshop 6 - Controversy with Civility
  4. Attend ONE event from EACH category: Appreciating Diversity, Campus Life, Professional Development, Service, and Wellness
  5. Complete written reflections on OrgSync for each workshop
  6. Submit a Gold Certificate Completion Application via Org Sync.

 

Hornet Pride Certificate – 3rd Semester (Prerequisite Gold Certificate)

Hornet Pride CertificateDesigned for the third semester of Leadership Initiative participant, this Hornet Pride Certificate fosters a proactive leader emphasizing leadership as more than an individual approach. This certificate integrates greater personal accountability through the creation of a leadership development plan and active involvement with a student organization and fostering skills in collaboration and community building.

 

Prerequisite

  1. Gold Certificate

Requirements

  1. Hornet Pride Workshop 7 - Citizenship
  2. Hornet Pride Workshop 8 - Change
  3. Complete the Leadership Development Plan on OrgSync
  4. Attend THREE events from any of the categories listed: Appreciating Diversity, Campus Life, Professional Development, Service, and Wellness
  5. Complete written reflections on OrgSync for each event and workshop attended.
  6. Membership in a recognized student organization
  7. Two Minute Video Reflection
  8. Submit a Hornet Pride Certificate Completion Application via Org Sync.

 

Leadership Initiative Certificate – 4th Semester (Prerequisite Hornet Pride Certificate)

LI CertificateDesigned for the fourth semester of Leadership Initiative participant. This Leadership Initiative Mentor Certificate emphasizes leadership as mentorship because aspiring leaders need role models and guidance. This certificate includes mentorship and workshop facilitation components as well as aiding in abstract leadership analysis and enhancing communication and conflict management skills. Additionally, it aides the student in transferring past leadership experiences into marketable career skills through the development of the co-curricular transcript.

 

Prerequisite

  1. Hornet Pride Certificate

Requirements

  1. Create and conduct one approved workshop or event from LI Event Categories to be included on the LI Event Calendar
  2. Meet with Career Center Counselor for resume and interview evaluation
  3. Setup Biography, Involvement, Academics, and Employment section of the E-portfolio on OrgSync and submit request for review through OrgSync
  4. Setup Co-Curricular Transcript on OrgSync and submit request of review through OrgSync
  5. Request and Complete exit interview with LI Staff through OrgSync
  6. Submit a Leadership Initiative (Final Certificate) Certificate Completion Application via Org Sync.

 

 

Five Areas of Growth:

Areas of GrowthThe Leadership Initiative utilizes five “Area of Growth” categories based on campus learning goals to identify nearly 150 events for LI participants to attend out of  the hundreds of events available each semester at Sac State.  

  • Appreciating Diversity - Allows students to learn about people of various cultures, genders, backgrounds, and experiences.
  • Campus Life - Contributes to the overall sense of campus engagement and pride.
  • Professional Development – Provides training and education for personal and career development.
  • Service - Opportunities to learn about or practice volunteerism and giving of time, talent, or treasure to another.
  • Wellness - Promotes a state of wellbeing in body, mind, and spirit.
